What is
Geburt 3000?

Geburt 3000 is a contemporary form of the classic birth center, offering a holistic approach to autonomous midwife-led care outside of hospitals.

Geburt 3000 aims to create a collaborative form of in-hospital and out-of-hospital maternity care that meets the needs of women and their families. Although midwife-led out-of-hospital care is a safe and cost-effective supplement to standard care, it is currently unavailable to many people in Switzerland.

The Foundation

Autonomous, midwife-led birth centers are being established directly on hospital grounds and operate in close collaboration with their partner hospitals. While the hospital and birth center teams work independently, they maintain an active exchange focused on mutual learning and the continuous improvement of maternity care. This collaborative model is further strengthened through partnerships with universities and universities of applied sciences across Switzerland, supporting research, the documentation of findings, and the development of an integrative learning process.

The Goal

Women first. The goal is to promote physiological, woman-centered birth and thus respond more specifically to the needs of the woman giving birth. The availability of out-of-hospital maternity care in Switzerland is to be significantly expanded while ensuring a high quality of care. Furthermore, the exchange between hospitals and out-of-hospital midwives will be promoted.
