October 22, 2025 / Another milestone has been reached!
On October 21nd 2025, we were pleased to complete the formal establishment and notarisation of the Geburt 3000 Foundation in Basel. This provides a solid institutional foundation, enabling us to pursue long-term planning and develop effective partnerships.
We look forward to further advancing Geburt 3000 and, with it, contributing to the continued development of maternity care in Switzerland. Our pilot project in Uster is also progressing well, and we look forward to sharing further updates in due course. Our pilot project in Uster is also making great strides. We look forward to reporting more on this soon.

2025-09-09 / The Birth Pool of the Future
The German Midwives’ Journal reports on wooden birth pools used in Swiss birth centers. The specially developed Laguna Terra at the Terra Alta Birth Center impresses with its thoughtful design, robustness, and hygiene.
Renate Ruckstuhl summarizes the experience: “The wood makes the tub a cozy experience not only for the eyes. The water in this tub stays pleasantly warm significantly longer. The material never feels cold because it comfortably adopts body temperature when leaning against it – as only wood can. For me, the Laguna Terra is exemplary of Geburt 3000’s innovative approaches. The creative work and development, together with a boat builder, was incredibly enjoyable.”

September 8, 2025 / CAS in Midwife-Led Maternity Care
The new CAS in Midwife-Led Maternity Care has been launched. In collaboration with the Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH, Department of Health, we were able to contribute to the development of this brand-new CAS. It combines integrative concepts such as salutogenesis and salutophysiology with diverse midwifery approaches, supported by evidence-based findings. Participants also acquire knowledge about innovative and agile work models, in line with “New Work” approaches as implemented within the framework of “Geburt 3000”. Registrations are now open. All information is available here.
2025-08-29 / Birthing pavilion takes shape
“We should give birth and be born in spaces that convey a sense of security and well-being.”
The architectural team of Elia Malevez and Klaus Töngi, together with Geburt 3000, has completely reimagined the birthing room. The result is a space that radiates safety and comfort. Workflows were also consistently integrated into the design to create a positive and supportive environment for midwives. The pavilion is being realized using a solid wood system construction. Materials, structure, and proportions, alongside light, air, textiles, and plants, form essential elements of the space.
We are now very much looking forward to the fine-tuning and the collaboration with our expert team of architects and craftsmen!
