New care models for out-of-hospital maternity care – strategic alliance with partner hospitals – strengthening autonomous midwife-led childbirth

News:

Cooperation – salutogenic architecture – scientific validation

Regardless of how well hospital maternity wards are equipped, current research shows that mothers are more satisfied with midwife-led births, and an increasing number of women are seeking midwife-led childbirth in an out-of-hospital setting. Nevertheless, the number of out-of-hospital births in Switzerland has stagnated for years.

We want to change that. It is time for new forms of collaboration that expand women’s and families’ freedom of choice and place salutogenesis at the center of maternity care.

Our

three Pillars

Geburt 3000 evolves maternity care in all its diversity: from the individual care of expectant mothers and their families, to the scientifically based education and further training of midwives and the scientific evaluation of health outcomes in future birth pavilions, through to the “healing architecture” of the planned birth pavilions.

Organization

Geburt 3000 can rely on experienced experts in the fields of midwife-led maternity care, salutogenesis, science and research, and architecture.

Approaches

The challenges. Our solutions.

We can count on these supporters

Dr. Brida von Castelberg

Gynecologist

“The proximity of the birth center and its collaborative, non-competitive partnership with the hospital allow women to give birth under midwife-led care without fearing that complications might compromise their child’s safety. The non-clinical architectural design further enhances well-being — an essential factor in the physically and emotionally demanding experience of childbirth. This scientifically validated model will also highlight the expertise of our highly trained midwives.”

Karin Lietha

Midwife and Head of Management of the Zürcher Oberland Birth Center

“An autonomous birth center located on hospital grounds fosters trust through close proximity and genuine collaboration rather than competition. This partnership creates a shared commitment to enhancing the well-being of women and families while ensuring safety and continuity of care. At the same time, healing architecture and thoughtfully designed spaces contribute significantly to the physical and emotional well-being of both families and midwives. Academic support further strengthens midwifery competencies and enables greater evidence and transparency regarding the high quality of out-of-hospital midwifery care.”

Robert Rhiner

MPH, healthcare consultant and entrepreneur

“Geburt 3000 offers expectant parents professional midwife-led care while providing the reassurance of an immediately adjacent acute-care hospital should complications arise. The collaborative partnership with the hospital, together with ongoing education, training, and research activities, ensures a high level of professionalism and continuous advancement in maternity care. This integrated model enables expectant parents to place their full trust in the birth center at every stage of the childbirth experience.”
